Do you remember this plea from our prophet, “My beloved brothers and sisters, I plead with you to increase your spiritual capacity to receive revelation…”?
Definition of capacity (noun):
-
the ability to receive or contain
-
power of receiving impressions, knowledge, etc.
-
actual or potential ability to perform, yield or withstand
Perhaps you’ve been asking these questions…
What can I do to make a difference in the world?
I am just one person, what change can I affect?
When building anything, including capacity, start first with a clearing out process, a purging. Get rid of what’s in the way. When you want to create something new the best way to start is to clean and clear things out. Who do you need to forgive? Yourself and/or others?
Have a look at your own spiritual reserves. There is no way you can help others without making sure your own cup is full first. You can’t pour from an empty cup!
Next you can bolster these reserves. Live right. Influence others for good. Live bigger the truths you know to be right. Shine your light brighter and brighter.
Everything starts with intention: Decide to improve your personal habits. Take the first step in reading your scriptures, making your prayers more meaningful, creating quiet space for the answers to float up.
The ultimate way to stretch your capacity is to look to our Savior Jesus Christ. “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12 His light amplified through us helps to dispel darkness and brings peace, love, and joy.
